I’m not sure if my Christmas workshop effort should be labeled overtime or overdrive, but I can tell you that I am working hard! There is still so much that I want to make, but I have gotten some gifts sewn up.
Molly and her American Girl sisters will have a new hand knit sweater. I’d like to make more pants for the dolls, but that might have to wait until after Christmas. The colors in the sweater embroidery will coordinate just about any fabric. The letters are the small Diva Dots from Five Star Font and the spray was taken from Amazing Designs Buttonholes 1 collection.
I love monograms for everyone, dolls included. Of course, the clothes are interchangeable from doll to doll, so technically a name-specific monogram is a limiting factor, not that dgd Laurel cares. I’ve monogrammed doll bed linens for Molly and Laurel monogrammed the sleeping bag she made for Kit. These items are used for both dolls. But I really like using AG for American Girls.
NOTE: Did you know there is a new Yahoo Group for American Girls doll fans who sew? It’s a spin off from the popular Sewing Gifts on Time group. You can check it out here. I’ve found wonderful stuff there.
On a trip to Dallas, the my son’s family visited the NFL Cowboy stadium. Now Robert is a huge fan. So the fleece pullover should be a hit with him.
For my PlayGroup Mama gal pals, I’ve once again relied on the quick and easy key cases from Terri Click. Having met with these dear friends at least every other week for 34 years now, I know their individual taste fairly well.  It was fun to select just the right fabric and design for each of them.
When I finish 2 year-old Alastair’s Christmas outfit, I’ll start on an American Girl doll dress to match Laurel’s Christmas dress. We are giving her the new Marie Grace doll for Christmas and I want her to make her appearance in the matching dress, just as Molly did last year.
Gift giving, or gift making in our case, is such a joyful activity. All the while I am sewing, I try to keep the reason for the season in my heart.
Happy Christmas sewing to you all!
