At last, it’s time for football. The first game of the year is awaited as eagerly as Christmas and the celebrations last far longer. Few women outside the deep South understand the seasonal passion that pervades Southern  kitchens, calendars, wardrobes and sewing schedules.
But Millie, Judy, Amy, Suzanne and other readers know all about it and welcome this invasion into their every day lives.
For the enthusiastic and loyal fans among us, there are a multitude of sewing opportunities. From team gear to tailgating accessories, my sewing machine has been humming for some time.
Family members needed new game shirts, tailgating tablecloths needed replacement and the family small fries needed a few new outfits to make it through the season.
I love sewing for football season and pulling out the fruits of my off-season labors at the end of August. With the regular demands of life and the increased demands of the football schedule, very little Gator sewing gets done until spring.
Most closely knit families share a passion in which all members participate and share. For some it is hiking or travel or music or–whatever.
For us, it is Florida Gator/SEC Â football. We tailgate for home games, congregate around one tv or another for away games, discuss all games and players and countdown to the next game from the National Championship to kickoff.
And that is now. Go Gators!
