At last, it finally happened. I had all three of my grandchildren in the same place at the same time wearing their matching outfits. Getting a group shot that includes a 9 month-old baby is dicey at best, but the two older children were very cooperative and patient. Maybe that whole Elf Watch threat still hangs over their heads.
The details of each outfit are in previous posts, but in summary the plaid is Viyella, the button-on bibs are a linen blend, the pattern for the boys’ suit is Glenn by Children’s Corner and Laurel’s dress is an extended yoke pattern. The embroidery designs are all from Bernina’s Current Critters Continued collection.
The festivities began at a Christmas Eve open house at the lovely home of Alastair’s Great-Uncle Doug and Great Auntie Jeannette, who is a fabulous cook.
The food was beautiful and delicious. The family was happy to meet for the first time a shy new bride from the Philippines and a charming new fiancé from San Diego.
Alastair wore his smocked Ho!Ho!Ho! suit and took more than his share of the attention.
Christmas Day was hosted by my daughter and son-in-law at their home. With Harvey’s family as well as Rebecca’s, there were 21 people in attendance throughout the day.
Rebecca and Harvey served a brunch that included mini quiches, cinnamon buns, bagels, cream cheese, homemade strawberry jam, fresh strawberries, orange juice, homemade cheese cake, coffee, apple and cherry pie.
Dinner was equally bountiful with contributions from family members. Honey baked ham, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese and Miss Ruby’s special lime jello were just some of the treats.
All things considered, it was a glorious Christmas and a joyful first for Alastair and his family.
I hope you all were with family and/or friends and celebrated the day with joy.
