With three beautiful grandchildren to dress, I find myself looking for ways to make more clothes in less time. Increasingly, I rely on 1. ready-to-smock garments, 2. machine embroidery on quick and easy patterns, and now, 3. machine embroidery on ready-to-wear apparel.
Alastair wears a beautiful blue herringbone overall, part of a two piece set from Strasburg Children. All of their garments are beautifully constructed and made of quality fabrics.  I loved this outfit when I bought it, but I wanted just a little more punch. In my humble opinion, almost anything is enhanced by the addition of a monogram.
By opening the center front lining seam, it was relatively easy to embroider the frame and letters.  The design is from Monogram Wizard Plus, a great program with 55 alphabets in sizes from tiny to your largest hoop, as well as motifs and frames to enhance the monograms. It can also be used for lettering in a phrase. I use this program a lot.
Accompanying the overall was an equally beautiful long sleeved shirt. But on another 90 degree day in Florida, that shirt was just too hot. So in the photos, Alastair wears a light weight short sleeved shirt.
Strasburg Children clothes run large so I  thought, when I bought the outfit, that the 6-9 month size would fit him for most of Florida’s cool weather. But I hadn’t expected him to be such a big boy. Now, unless it gets a lot cooler in a very short time, he will never wear that gorgeous shirt.
On the rack, the lined overall was pristine plain except for the tabs on either side. All the buttons were replace with mother-of-pearl. Lovely as the outfit had been originally, the tailored, simple monogram and heirloom quality buttons made it a little more special. More importantly, it is now a special outfit from Nana. And it was made quickly.
